ELMG's Impact X's role demonstrates a commitment to creating a more just and equitable society. By empowering marginalized voices and addressing systemic issues, ELMG and Impact X helps to drive meaningful change and improve the lives of countless individuals in Georgia. Impact X provides a comprehensive support system for homeless individuals and those transitioning from incarceration, addressing their immediate needs, promoting stability, and advocating for systemic change.

 

Impact X and Its Role

  1. Uplifting and Empowering Vulnerable Members: Impact X plays a crucial role in supporting ELMG's mission by uplifting and empowering the most vulnerable members of society.

  2. Addressing Systemic Issues: By focusing on the penal system, joblessness, and homelessness, Impact X helps address systemic issues that contribute to inequality and marginalization.

Impact X Specific Tasks

This comprehensive plan addresses the complex needs of homeless individuals and those transitioning from incarceration. Here is a categorized breakdown of our commitment:

Immediate Needs

  1. Outreach Programs:  Staff identifies and connects with homeless individuals and those recently released from incarceration.

  2. Crisis Intervention: Staff provide immediate assistance in crises.

  3. Resource Coordination: ELMG created a comprehensive directory of available services.

Housing and Employment

  1. Housing Support: With the help of its staff, Impact X has secured stable housing options and advocates for previous offenders transitioning from incarceration.

Advocate

  1. Navigate through the Georgia Department of Correction (GDC) various departments Providing names and emails for wardens, medical staff, social services, upper management, etc.

  2. Advocate for Policy Changes

  3. Intensive Case Management

    • Develop individualized service plans, track progress, and provide support.

    • Locate various attorneys

  1. Emergency Service Contact: to GDC wardens when offenders are in conflict

  2. Help Inmates get transferred to a different facility or dorm

  3. Visitation, dress procedures, and facility rules.

  4. Advocate Offenders' Rights and GDC Policies and Procedures

  5. Help families of offenders understand SOP and LOP.

  •  Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): The detailed, written instructions that outline the steps to be taken in a specific situation or process. SOPs are designed to ensure consistency and uniformity across all GDC facilities.

    • Personnel Management: The guidelines for personnel conduct, training, and evaluations.

    • Offender Management: procedures for managing offender behavior, health, and well-being.

    • Facility Operations: guidelines for facility management, security, and maintenance

  • Local Operating Procedures (LOPs): The procedures specific to a particular facility or region within the GDC. LOPs were designed to address unique needs or circumstances that might not be covered by SOPs.

  • LOPs They may include:

    • Facility-Specific Rules: rules and regulations that are specific to a particular facility

    • Regional Policies: policies that apply to a specific region or group of facilities

  • 205 Policy Facilities-Personnel/Standards/Training: guidelines for personnel conduct, training, and evaluations

  • 507.01 Policy PH-Administration and Management: policies for managing healthcare Sources

  • Housing and facility information: Assist formerly incarcerated individuals, including sex offenders and those in transition with locating appropriate housing upon release from prison. Help previous offenders locate appropriate housing once released from prison.ie sex offenders and transiting offenders.

  1. Legal Services

    • Legal representation for prevention of eviction, access to benefits, and employment discrimination.
